A fine Victorian enamel mourning pendant, beautifully crafted in 9ct gold back and front and dating to the late 19th century. The front is decorated in classic black enamel with a central blue enamel panel inscribed “In Memory Of”, a traditional and highly recognisable motif associated with Victorian mourning jewellery.
The pendant opens to reveal two black-and-white portrait photographs, each protected behind the original glass covers. Behind the photographs, the locket retains its original purple velvet inserts in excellent condition—a particularly desirable and increasingly rare feature that adds significantly to its authenticity and collectability.
The locket closes securely, with a sound hinge and clasp, and is presented in excellent antique condition for its age. The enamel, photographs, and fittings are all very well preserved, making this a touching and historically important piece of Victorian remembrance jewellery.
