Have an Emerald Ring Made From a Photo You Love
A custom emerald ring often starts with a photograph rather than a sketch. You may have found an antique cluster, a three-stone ring or an Art Deco setting whose shape feels exactly right, but want a different emerald, metal, diamond layout or overall proportion. The photograph gives us a visual reference from which to develop your own ring.
You Do Not Need a Technical Drawing
If you can show us the ring, you do not need to know the terminology for every part of it.
You might like the width of the diamond border, the shape of the shoulders, the way the emerald sits low in the setting or simply the overall balance between the center stone and surrounding diamonds.

Why Emerald Rings Often Need to Be Adapted From the Reference
Emeralds are individual stones. Two emeralds of the same stated carat weight may differ considerably in length, width, depth and overall shape.
One may be a broad emerald cut with a large face-up appearance, while another may be deeper and narrower. A cushion-cut emerald introduces another completely different set of proportions.
For that reason, it is usually better to preserve the visual idea from the photograph while designing the final setting around the actual stone.
Choosing the Emerald for the Ring
Color is important, but it is not the only consideration. Tone, saturation, transparency, cut, inclusions and visible proportions all influence how an emerald performs once set.
Natural emeralds commonly contain fissures and internal features, and many are clarity enhanced with oil or other filling substances. The type and degree of treatment can matter when comparing more significant stones.

The Inspiration Emerald Does Not Have to Match Yours
You can send us a photograph containing a large Colombian-looking emerald-cut center even if you ultimately choose a smaller cushion, oval or differently toned emerald.
We can retain the parts of the setting you like while adjusting the diamond size, border width and overall dimensions around the new stone.
Appearance alone should not be used to assign geographic origin to an emerald. If origin is important to the purchase, it should be supported by appropriate laboratory evidence rather than assumed from color.
Emerald Cut, Cushion, Oval or Pear?
Emerald Cut
The classic rectangular form gives the ring strong structure and works especially well with baguettes and Art Deco geometry.
Cushion Cut
Softer corners create a more rounded outline, particularly attractive in clusters and antique-inspired settings.
Oval Emerald
An elongated oval can create a graceful silhouette and adapts naturally to diamond surrounds and three-stone rings.
Pear-Shaped Emerald
A less conventional choice that can create a distinctive ring when the surrounding stones are designed specifically around its outline.
Changing the Diamond Layout
The photograph may show a full diamond halo, but your version does not have to use exactly the same arrangement.
A cluster can be refined with smaller diamonds, transformed into a three-stone ring or redesigned with baguettes to create a more geometric appearance.
Diamond proportions matter particularly around emerald, because oversized surrounding stones can easily compete with the center rather than frame it.
Emerald and Diamond Three-Stone Rings From Inspiration Photos
A three-stone layout is one of the simplest styles to adapt from an image.
The reference may contain pear-shaped diamonds, while your ring could use trapezoids, rounds or old-cut style diamonds. The side stones can also be scaled according to the width of the chosen emerald.
This allows the overall silhouette to remain recognizable without forcing the new ring to duplicate every detail.
Antique Emerald Ring Inspiration
Antique rings are particularly useful visual references because small details often give them much of their character.

Choosing Yellow Gold, White Gold or Platinum
Yellow Gold
Creates a rich contrast with green emerald and works particularly well in Victorian-inspired rings.
White Gold
Gives the diamond work a cooler appearance and allows the green center to stand out sharply.
Platinum
Well suited to refined diamond-set designs and Edwardian or Art Deco inspired settings.
Two-Tone
A yellow-gold shank can be combined with white metal around the emerald and diamonds for a more traditional mixed-metal effect.
Designing Around Emerald Durability
Emerald has a Mohs hardness of around 7.5 to 8, but hardness measures scratch resistance rather than resistance to impact.
Natural emeralds commonly contain fissures, which can make some stones more vulnerable to knocks than the hardness number alone suggests.
Setting height, exposed corners and the amount of metal protecting the stone should therefore be considered carefully, especially where the inspiration image uses a very exposed setting.
Using an Emerald You Already Own
If you already have an emerald, the new ring can be designed around it.
We would need its precise dimensions and enough information about the stone to determine whether the proposed style is suitable.
An older emerald should also be considered for chips, abrasions and existing fissures before being removed and reset.
From Inspiration Photo to CAD
The inspiration image establishes the visual direction, but CAD turns that idea into actual dimensions.
Once the emerald and supporting stones have been selected, we prepare a detailed 3D model showing proportions, dimensions and construction.
This lets you review the setting height, gemstone arrangement, shank and overall balance before production begins.
The CAD carries a $25 non-refundable design fee, which is deducted from the final bill if the ring proceeds to production.
How Much Does an Emerald Ring Made From a Photo Cost?
The photograph itself does not determine the cost. The biggest variables are usually the emerald, diamonds, precious metal and complexity of manufacture.
A clean three-stone design may have relatively simple metalwork, while an intricate platinum cluster containing numerous small diamonds requires considerably more setting and finishing.
Emerald quality can also change the budget substantially. If you provide a target spend at the start, we can source and design within realistic parameters rather than developing a ring that unnecessarily exceeds them.
Are there any upfront costs?
There is no charge for the initial concept stage. We work with you to develop the idea and create visual mock-ups until we arrive at a design you are happy with.
Once the concept is agreed, we provide a quote to make the piece. If you would like to proceed, we request a $25 non-refundable CAD design fee. This covers the time required for our jewelry CAD designer to create the detailed 3D model and is deducted from your final balance if the piece goes ahead.
Am I obligated to go ahead once I submit the enquiry form?
No. Submitting the enquiry form does not commit you to purchasing anything. You are free to stop at any point during the initial concept and quotation stages.
Once the CAD fee has been paid, that fee is non-refundable because the CAD work is created specifically for you. Once the 40% production deposit has been paid and manufacturing has begun, that deposit is also non-refundable if you decide not to continue with the order.
How long does the whole process take?
The initial concept and quotation stage can take anything from the same day to several days, depending on how much refining is needed to get the design exactly right.
Once the concept is approved, the 3D CAD model usually takes around 2–4 days. After the CAD is approved and the 40% deposit is paid, production normally takes around 7–21 days, although most pieces are completed within approximately two weeks.
As soon as the piece is finished, we send you photographs and/or video for approval. The remaining balance is then due before dispatch.
International delivery from Thailand using DHL or FedEx is typically around 3–7 working days, depending on the destination and customs clearance.
Can you source almost any gemstone?
In most cases, yes. Thailand is one of the world's major gemstone and jewelry centers, giving us direct access to an exceptionally wide selection of colored stones.
We source gemstones in person through trusted long-standing contacts and established traders, including within Bangkok's jewelry district and Jewellery Trade Center.
We personally inspect and select the stones used in our custom pieces rather than simply ordering unseen stock, allowing us to choose for color, cut, clarity and overall appearance.
Do you offer gemstone certification?
Yes. If certification is required, the gemstone should normally be submitted to the laboratory before the jewelry enters production, while the stone is still loose.
We can arrange reports through reputable local gem laboratories in Bangkok and, where appropriate, through internationally recognized laboratories such as GIA.
Standard local laboratory certification can often be included without additional charge. GIA certification is usually most worthwhile for higher-value, important or exceptional stones and any GIA fees would be added to the quotation.
Laboratory turnaround can add anywhere from a few days to around two weeks depending on the laboratory and service used.
Where is my custom jewelry made?
Our custom jewelry is produced in Thailand. We source the gemstones here and work with our specialist Bangkok jewelry workshop to manufacture each piece.
Thailand has a long-established reputation for gemstone cutting and fine jewelry production, allowing us to combine skilled craftsmanship with direct access to gemstones and precious-metal manufacturing.
Can I send you a photo of any emerald ring I like?
Yes. The image can be used to show the setting style, proportions and details you prefer, then adapted around your chosen emerald.
Can you change the emerald shape from the photograph?
Yes. A design shown with an emerald-cut center can be reworked around an oval, cushion, pear or other suitable emerald, with the surrounding stones adjusted accordingly.
Can I send several inspiration photos?
Yes. We can use different photographs to understand the setting, shoulders, diamond arrangement or period details you want to bring together.
Can I use my own emerald?
Potentially, yes. Its precise measurements and condition should be assessed before the new setting is designed around it.
