Have a Sapphire Ring Made From a Photo You Love
Many custom commissions begin in exactly the same way: you find a ring whose proportions, gemstone arrangement or period detailing catches your eye, but you cannot find the right sapphire, metal, size or exact combination in a ready-made piece. An inspiration photo gives us a clear starting point from which to develop your own ring.
You Do Not Need to Know the Technical Details
You do not need to know whether the shoulders are cathedral style, how many millimeters wide the shank is or what a particular setting technique is called.
Simply show us the photograph and explain what attracts you to it. It might be the overall silhouette, the diamond border, the way the sapphire sits, the antique detailing or even one small feature such as the gallery beneath the stone.
We can then translate those visual references into a design that works around the gemstones and proportions of your own ring.
The inspiration image is the starting point, not a restriction. We can keep the details you love while changing the sapphire, metal, diamond layout, proportions or period character to make the ring your own.

Choosing the Sapphire Around the Design
The center stone is one of the biggest reasons a custom interpretation can look different from the original reference.
An oval sapphire may require different proportions from a cushion, while a deep stone may need a higher setting than a shallower one. Even two sapphires of the same carat weight can have noticeably different face-up dimensions.
We therefore choose the sapphire and develop the setting together rather than attempting to squeeze an individual gemstone into fixed measurements.

Changing the Sapphire Color
Your inspiration ring does not need to contain the same color sapphire you ultimately choose.
A photograph of a classic royal-blue sapphire cluster might instead inspire a teal, green, pink or yellow sapphire version.
The surrounding diamonds and metal can then be adjusted to complement the new center color rather than simply repeating the original combination.
Changing the Diamonds and Proportions
Inspiration photos are especially useful for showing the balance between the sapphire and its surrounding diamonds.
You might love a particular cluster but want the diamonds slightly smaller, or prefer larger side stones while keeping the center sapphire more restrained.
These changes can substantially alter the final character of the ring, which is why we refine the proportions before production rather than treating the photograph as a fixed template.
Antique-Inspired Sapphire Rings From Photos
Antique rings are particularly useful as inspiration because many contain setting details and proportions that are difficult to describe in words.
An Edwardian photograph might show delicate milgrain and fine diamond work, while a Victorian ring may have heavier yellow-gold shoulders and a lower, more substantial setting.
Art Deco references can introduce geometric borders, baguette diamonds, stepped shapes and stronger symmetry.

Can Several Photos Be Combined Into One Ring?
Yes. In many cases, this produces a more personal result than relying on one photograph alone.
You might like the sapphire-and-diamond arrangement from one ring, the shoulders from another and the engraving or gallery from a third.
Those details can be brought together into one coherent concept, provided the proportions and construction work together.
Choosing the Precious Metal
Yellow Gold
Creates a warmer appearance and is particularly effective in Victorian and other antique-inspired sapphire rings.
White Gold
Gives the setting a cooler appearance and blends naturally with white diamond surrounds.
Platinum

Using Your Own Sapphire
If you already have a sapphire, the inspiration image can be adapted around that actual stone.
Its precise length, width, depth and condition will influence the setting, particularly where the reference ring contains a differently proportioned center.
Existing diamonds may potentially be incorporated too, provided their dimensions and condition suit the new layout.
From Inspiration Photo to 3D CAD
Once the overall concept and quote are agreed, the design moves from a visual reference into precise dimensions.
We prepare a detailed 3D CAD showing the proportions, dimensions and construction of your ring around the chosen gemstones.
This lets you review the stone arrangement, setting height, shank proportions and other major details before manufacturing begins.
The CAD carries a $25 non-refundable design fee, which is deducted from the final bill if you proceed with production.
Does the Finished Ring Have to Be Identical to the Photo?
No. In most cases, the strongest custom result comes from identifying what you actually like about the reference and adapting those elements around your own gemstone and preferences.
A ring can retain the same overall mood and proportions while changing the stone shape, diamond layout, metal, gallery, shoulders or decorative detailing.
Where a reference is a distinctive contemporary design belonging to another maker, it can also be more appropriate to use it as inspiration rather than reproduce every proprietary detail exactly.
How Much Does a Sapphire Ring Made From a Photo Cost?
The inspiration photograph does not determine the price. Cost is driven mainly by the sapphire, diamonds or other supporting stones, precious metal and complexity of manufacture.
A relatively simple sapphire trilogy based on a photograph can have very different requirements from an intricate platinum Art Deco cluster with numerous calibrated diamonds.
If you provide a budget when sending the image, we can develop the gemstone choices and design around it rather than creating a concept that unnecessarily exceeds what you want to spend.
Are there any upfront costs?
There is no charge for the initial concept stage. We work with you to develop the idea and create visual mock-ups until we arrive at a design you are happy with.
Once the concept is agreed, we provide a quote to make the piece. If you would like to proceed, we request a $25 non-refundable CAD design fee. This covers the time required for our jewelry CAD designer to create the detailed 3D model and is deducted from your final balance if the piece goes ahead.
Am I obligated to go ahead once I submit the enquiry form?
No. Submitting the enquiry form does not commit you to purchasing anything. You are free to stop at any point during the initial concept and quotation stages.
Once the CAD fee has been paid, that fee is non-refundable because the CAD work is created specifically for you. Once the 40% production deposit has been paid and manufacturing has begun, that deposit is also non-refundable if you decide not to continue with the order.
How long does the whole process take?
The initial concept and quotation stage can take anything from the same day to several days, depending on how much refining is needed to get the design exactly right.
Once the concept is approved, the 3D CAD model usually takes around 2–4 days. After the CAD is approved and the 40% deposit is paid, production normally takes around 7–21 days, although most pieces are completed within approximately two weeks.
As soon as the piece is finished, we send you photographs and/or video for approval. The remaining balance is then due before dispatch.
International delivery from Thailand using DHL or FedEx is typically around 3–7 working days, depending on the destination and customs clearance.
Can you source almost any gemstone?
In most cases, yes. Thailand is one of the world's major gemstone and jewelry centers, giving us direct access to an exceptionally wide selection of colored stones.
We source gemstones in person through trusted long-standing contacts and established traders, including within Bangkok's jewelry district and Jewellery Trade Center.
We personally inspect and select the stones used in our custom pieces rather than simply ordering unseen stock, allowing us to choose for color, cut, clarity and overall appearance.
Do you offer gemstone certification?
Yes. If certification is required, the gemstone should normally be submitted to the laboratory before the jewelry enters production, while the stone is still loose.
We can arrange reports through reputable local gem laboratories in Bangkok and, where appropriate, through internationally recognized laboratories such as GIA.
Standard local laboratory certification can often be included without additional charge. GIA certification is usually most worthwhile for higher-value, important or exceptional stones and any GIA fees would be added to the quotation.
Laboratory turnaround can add anywhere from a few days to around two weeks depending on the laboratory and service used.
Where is my custom jewelry made?
Our custom jewelry is produced in Thailand. We source the gemstones here and work with our specialist Bangkok jewelry workshop to manufacture each piece.
Thailand has a long-established reputation for gemstone cutting and fine jewelry production, allowing us to combine skilled craftsmanship with direct access to gemstones and precious-metal manufacturing.
Can I send you a photo of any sapphire ring I like?
Yes. The image can be used to show us the proportions, gemstone arrangement and style you prefer. We can then develop the concept around your own sapphire, budget and requirements.
Can I send several inspiration photos?
Yes. You can show us different features from several rings and we can combine compatible ideas into one coherent custom design.
Can you change the sapphire shape or color from the photo?
Yes. The inspiration ring might contain an oval blue sapphire, for example, while your version could use a cushion, pink, green, yellow or other suitable sapphire.
Can I use my own sapphire?
Potentially, yes. The design can be adapted around your stone's exact dimensions and condition rather than the gemstone shown in the inspiration image.
Will I see the design before the ring is made?
Yes. After the concept and quote are agreed, a detailed 3D CAD is prepared so you can review the proportions, dimensions and construction before approving production.
